Melanie Blanchette, Executive Director

Melanie Blanchette offers over a decade of accomplishment-laden experience throughout the spectrum of community and social services, driving achievement of the highest organizational success. As a key strategic leader, Melanie brings valuable insight and knowledge regarding the funding and program management challenges faced by organizations in the non-profit and charitable sectors.

She draws on a wealth of leadership experience that spans all aspects of community services in the public and non-profit sectors. Her business finesse demonstrates a savviness for collaboration and team-building; executive leadership; campaign outreach; and public relations.  

Melanie is a dynamic personality who’s passionate about sustainable development and its connection to community of Thunder Bay. Having recently returned to University to complete her MBA, she believes in the ongoing development of oneself personally and professionally. Furthermore, she remains an advocate for the pursuit of educational endeavors and believes that no one should encounter barriers when pursuing one’s educational development. The Grant, Scholarship and Bursary programs funded by the TBCF and the Foundation’s donors align perfectly with Melanie’s personal values.

In her free time, Melanie enjoys renovating and flipping homes and is currently putting the finishing touches on her third reno project. Melanie is also an avid animal lover and the owner of five furry ones of her own.

MJ Green, Operations Coordinator

MJ (Marlene) Green is a Lakehead University graduate having completed the Masters in the Science of Management program as well as the Honours Bachelor of Commerce program (majoring in Information Systems). Prior to attending Lakehead University, MJ completed the Business Accounting Program at Algonquin College.

Born and raised in Ottawa, Ontario, MJ is a member of the Couchiching First Nation in Fort Francis, Ontario. She moved to Thunder Bay with in 2009 with the goal of attending Lakehead University. After falling in love with the community, she has become a permanent resident of Thunder Bay.

Her goals with the Foundation are to help support the Foundation and Executive Director through the use of technology to create more focused and useful systems internally. With her marketing experience she aims expand that community knowledge about the Foundation and its place in the community. The Thunder Bay Community Foundation is known amongst the Board as Thunder Bay's best kept secret and part of MJ's goals are to let that secret out of the bag!
