It takes a village to raise a child, is the motto that the Boys and Girls Clubs of Thunder Bay (TBBGC)
strongly believes in and lives daily. The nonprofit organization receives no core funding of any type from any level of government. The TBBGC are fortunate to live in such a giving community as Thunder Bay.
You quickly learn that so much more can be accomplished when so many people come together for the benefit of a specific cause. In the last 10 years alone, the Thunder Bay Community Foundation (TBCF) has provided financial support in excess of $60,000. The Foundation has been an integral part of the improvements done at the Windsor Street facility by funding projects such as the Community Garage, Enhances Playground, and the addition of Security Cameras. On the programming side, funds have been made available to assist the clubs in the purchase of a Mobile SK8 Park, inflatables, staffing positions for the growing After School Program, Computer Upgrades, Outdoor Play Area and assistance in funding the Breakfast Program which serves approximately 700 children per day out of area schools.
“The TBCF has been a part of “our village” for many years. TBCF’s continued support has helped us become the leaders in the community in the Recreational and Nutritional programming for children and youth and without their help this couldn’t be possible”, said Albert Aiello, Executive Director, Thunder Bay Boys and Girls Club.
The TBCF hopes to continue to support TBBGC so they can remain a key provider of programs and services for children and youth.
