In May, one of our generous donors challenged Habitat for Humanity to raise $50,000 by the end of June to match their donation of $50,000 to build a home for a very deserving Thunder Bay Family. The Hrycyshyn family's dream of having an accessible home will come to fruition. This new home will allow Taisha Hyrcyshn's oldest son, whom is confined to a wheel chair enjoy time with his mother and younger siblings in the comfort of their own home.
Thanks to the hard work of Diane Mitchell, her team at Habitat for Humanity and many very generous donors in our community, the goal was reached and then some. Habitat for Humanity rose to the challenge and raised $62,562. This is initiative really brought out the love in the community with another anonymous donation for over $5,000 that was added to the project's funds. The Hrycyshyn family was overjoyed and joined Habitat for Humanity CEO Diane Mitchell and Thunder Bay Community Foundation Executive Director Bonnie Moore on July 8th to celebrate this great accomplishment.
"This matching grant is from one caring and remarkable family to another" -Bonnie Moore.
